What are RHA Fillers?

At Plastic Surgeons of Akron RHA fillers are offered as a type of dermal filler specifically designed to target dynamic muscles in the face. That is, many dermal fillers only target mild-to-moderate folds and wrinkles in the skin. RHA filler, on the other hand, targets places on the face that are in constant motion, which results in more wrinkles. Over time, your body produces less, causing your skin to age and wrinkle. RHA injectable fillers aim to mimic your body’s HA with its clear, colorless gel. RHA stands for Resilient Hyaluronic Acid.

HA is a naturally occurring substance in your body that lubricates your tissues. There are three different types of RHA fillers that target specific areas of the face, although they all contain HA made with a particular strain of Streptococcus Equi bacterium.

RHA® 2: RHA® 2 targets your lips for natural-looking fullness. It can also be used for wrinkles around the lips, or to smooth fine lines around your face.

RHA® 3: RHA® 3 targets the folds around your lip corners, jowls, and nasolabial area.

RHA® 4: RHA® 4 targets the deeper wrinkles on your face, especially in your cheeks and jowls, as well as other areas on the face.

Benefits of RHA Fillers

RHA fillers can help replace hydration in your skin lost through the aging process. In addition, it adds volume to your face, which instantly smooths wrinkles and lines, as well as brightens your skin tone. It can also tighten skin for a naturally younger-looking appearance.

Am I a Candidate for RHA Fillers?

If you have lines, folds, and/or less volume in areas of your face due to aging, you may want to consider RHA fillers. To find out if you’re a good candidate, you will need to book a consultation with Dr. Pedersen at Plastic Surgeons of Akron. Call or email to get started.

Procedure for RHA Fillers

This is a minimally invasive treatment that happens right in the office at Plastic Surgeons of Akron. Most of the time, the entire procedure takes between 15-25 minutes, but that time can be longer if you have more than one area treated. The actual injection already comes with lidocaine in it, which will numb the targeted area as it’s injected below the surface of your skin. Dr. Pedersen will mark the areas on your face from your customized plan before carefully injecting the RHA via a syringe.

Recovery from RHA Fillers

After your injections are complete, you will be free to drive on to your next obligation. However, it’s recommended that you avoid any vigorous activities for at least a day to keep bruises from forming. There may be some redness and/or swelling right at the injection site from the needle, but that will fade in just a few hours.

Results from RHA Fillers

RHA fillers begin to work just as they’re injected, adding volume and smoothing wrinkles and folds in the skin. Results will most likely develop in 24-48 hours, with you able to see the differences in your face for a near-immediate result.

RHA Fillers FAQ

How long do RHA fillers last?

RHA fillers are one of the longest-lasting dermal injectables in the market. Results normally last from 9-18 months.

Are RHA fillers painful?

Not really. There may be some pinching as the RHA is injected, but otherwise, there is no pain, especially as the injections already come with lidocaine, which will further numb your face. The doctor may also apply a topical numbing cream to minimize your discomfort from the needle.

How much do RHA fillers cost?

Because there are three different versions, the cost will vary on which one is used based on what you would like treated. As this is an elective cosmetic procedure, you will need to cover the costs yourself. If you are interested in payment plans or financing, make sure to ask during your consultation.
